Sharing PC screen to Android Tablet - Part 2 Share PC screen

Sharing PC Screen to Android Tablet Part 2

Good morning, This post is part 2 of "Sharing PC Screen to Android Tablet". On Part 1 you have installed Chrome Remote Desktop, this part 2 is how you can use Chrome Remote Desktop to share your PC screen.  I will use a case of using PowerPoint as an example.

Benefits of using this solution.
1.Accessing your PC / Laptop from any where that there is an internet access.
2.Adapting to control PowerPoint slide show from the tablet meanwhile your PC / Laptop is connecting to LCD Projector. You can presenting by just looking at your tablet and control the PowerPoint from tablet screen.
3.If there is any issue on your PC / Laptop, you can allow someone who can help access to your PC / Laptop from his/her machine.

Things to consider
1.Since it is allow other person to access to your PC / Laptop from his/her machine, you need to always disable remote connection after finish using Chrome Remote Desktop App.
2.While someone is accessing to your PC / Laptop it is a best practice to keep your eye on the screen and watching what that person have done with your machine.

Before start please find stuffs that you need for this solution.
1.PC or Laptop
2.Android Tablet or mobile Note: I prefer tablet since the screen is bigger so it is easy to control your desktop.
3.Internet connection Note: Since this solution require you to login with your gmail account through Chrome browser.
4.Chrome browser.
5.Chrome Remote Desktop application

Overview
  • You need to install “Chrome Remote Desktop” on both PC and Tablet.
  • You need to login using same gmail account (example abc@gmail.com).
  • On PC, open “Chrome remote desktop” and “Enable remote connection”. Then assign 6 digits pin. 
  • On PC, open PowerPoint and click slide show.
  • On tablet, click “Remote desktop” icon.
  • On tablet, click on your PC name, enter same 6 digits pin and start controlling the PowerPoint.
Note: To finish screen sharing click “Stop sharing” or click “Disable remote connection” on your PC / Laptop.



The manual begins here.

1. Once you get “Chrome Remote Desktop” on your PC / Laptop, now open Chrome.
2. Click icon "Apps" on top left corner under address bar to open list of application on Chrome. 

3. Please ensure that you login to chrome with the same gmail ID as on your tablet.
4. Then click icon “Chrome Remote Desktop”.

5. Click “Enable remote connections” on My Computer box.

6. Assign 6 digits pin
7. Then, click “Ok”

8. If your PC popup this screen, click “Yes”, unless you will see screen in "9".

9. Click “Ok”

10. Now your PC is ready to be connected from your tablet. And your PC name will show on My Computer box.

11. Open your PowerPoint and click “Slide show”.



Next, go to your android tablet and open Chrome Remote Desktop. 

1.Click on “Remote Desktop” icon.

2. You will see your PC / Laptop “computer name” on the top left and click on this name.

Note: 

  • If you didn’t enable remote desktop on your PC / Laptop you will see below screen or you can see your PC/Laptop name but it will show in gray.
  • If you login to Chrome with different user on Tablet or on PC/Laptop you will also see this screen.


3. Enter 6 digits pin that you just assigned to your PC/Laptop and click “Done”

4. Now, you will see your slide show from your PC/Laptop on your tablet screen.
To take control the screen, you must drag the cursor to any where that you want to control and hit one time on your tablet screen to operate. (Just like click mouse.)
When you want to end the sharing, click "Stop sharing" button to stop sharing screen from PC and return to your tablet screen.

5.In case you want to control other item on you PC, just close your PowerPoint slide show and you will be able to control your PC from tablet just like you click it directly on PC.

Important!!. To protect your personal data on your PC/Laptop, please don’t forget to click “Disable remote connection” on your PC/Laptop after you finish sharing to the tablet.
